Opinions
I'm a pretty opinionated person. I'd like to say that I'm sorry if I offend you, but really, it's my right to have this opinion just as it is your right to disagree.
Religion
A lot of people are under the impression that I'm an atheist, anti-religion bitch. That isn't exactly true. I have looked into a few religions and I have not found one that I like. I'm not a very religious person, but I am not an atheist. What it really comes down to is me having a problem with organized religion.
I find, especially with my sister, that a lot (note that that does not say all) of religious people follow their religion blindly. They accept what they're told and never once question it. That scares me. If you have questioned things or thought your beliefs over and come to the conclusion that you agree with your religion, that's great. Good for you. But if you accept everything you're told without thinking for yourself, you'll never get anywhere in life, whether there's a God guiding you or not.
I'm especially not happy with Catholicism. My sister Tarri is a Catholic, so I have had the "You can't do that" lectures from her a few times. What bothers me is the blatant disregard for that commandment about having no other God... Catholics pray to Mary and call the Pope their holy father. Not that I really obey every commandment, but I just wonder why Catholics don't consider this.
I know not every Catholic is a faith-forcer. But those Catholics that are refusing to give people birth control or other contraceptives need to get off their damn high-horses and let people live their lives as they choose. At this point in time, no one really knows what God truly wants from us. We can believe, but that doesn't mean our beliefs are necessarily correct. God might be anti-birth control, but I think he wouldn't have given mankind the knowledge to create contraceptives if he didn't want us to have them.
Homosexuality
I believe that people are born straight or gay. It is not a choice. If it were, I can't imagine that so many people would choose to be hated and discriminated against. It bothers me that gays and lesbians are forced to pay just as much taxes as any other citizen, yet they cannot have the same rights. I am very impressed by the states that have recently allowed gay marriage to be legal. I hope that the rest of the states continue that trend.
I am curious to know what exactly this "homosexual agenda" is that I keep hearing about from the conservative types. Are gays and lesbians on a mission to convert your children? Or perhaps it's just like Pinky and the Brain and they spend every night trying to come up with ways to take over the world. It seems to me that if there is an agenda of any sort, it's the homophobic people that spend tons of money to pass legislation preventing homosexual citizens from marrying or adopting or having rights in general. It's those that create false advertisements to scare the unknowing into voting against equality. Comparing homosexuality to beastiality or pedophilia is a sick and completely false comparison. In homosexuality, it is consenting people. The others are cases that involve victims and are crimes. To compare the two is insensitive and seriously shows the mental capacity of the moron that originally thought that comparison up.
No one is hurt by allowing two people who love each other to spend their lives together. No one is hurt by allowing them have families together. Perhaps some people just need to find better ways to spend their time instead of discriminating and judging their fellow humans.
The end?
